PSG Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the prestigious cup on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
